Of course, you should do a full backup of Magento before performing any upgrade. Once you’ve done that, the following extension key will take care of all the upgrades you’ll need at the core level:

magento-core/Mage_All_Latest

Simply type that into your Magento Connect Manager where it reads:

Then hit your Install button.
